I´m more the stay-home-and-read kind of girl. I despise clubs for the very same reason as this guy. Plus: I´m allergic to tobacco and people smoke a lot here in Vienna. And they drink. I don´t like to talk to drunken guys and girls. It´s of no relation to reality, some won´t even remember what they have told you some 5 minutes ago. Wasted time and voice. That´s not to say that I don´t like company or to hang out with others. We will attend a Jazz Brunch tomorrow and I am so very much looking forward to it!
I´m putting together a series of lovely illustrations for a small e-book that I make for my August Revolution girls. (yes, we are still on! I decided to prolong it for one more week!) I haven´t had the time to do some art for myself in a long time and it feels so good! I´m so in need of some sleep right now, but I am so looking forward to putting together my Weekend Candy tomorrow.
5 things I am grateful for today:
- mechanical pencils. No more sharpening on a 4 minute schedule.
- taking a huge cat nap in the afternoon. 2 hours of zzzzz, oh joy!
- my little brother spending the day with us and being perfectly well-behaved while he was at work with me. That boy is 12 years, going on 13 in November. Oh my, where´s the time?
- Golden Curry. I love love love it. So yummy.
- looking forward to ordering a huge package of Jetoy Choo Choo stationary for work. Make life as pleasant as it can be.
Happy friday hugs and bisou,

Hi Natalie! I enjoyed reading your post and I can relate to what you are saying about people who can't even remember what they have told you some 5 minutes ago. That's funny because I experienced that. I still go out sometimes but not into clubs.
ReplyDeleteThank you! (^___^) Yes, I do go out to, but the lack of basic education/good manners makes it hard sometimes. Especially here, where drinking alcohol is believed to be part of our culture. There is nothing wrong with having a good glass of wine, but I think people feel like they have to prove how much they can take in order to be accepted into the "circle". Lots of growing up to do and some never learn it at all. There´s no relation between the pleasure I get from making an illustration and the pleasure I get from hanging out at a bar/club/hip place.
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie!
ReplyDeleteYesterday I discovered your blog and I love it! You seem to be so sweet and and I think we have a lot in common.
I'm in the process of changing my life, I want to be a more positive and loving person.
I can totally relate to what you described. I have never been drunk in my life (I'm 19) and don't understand what this clubbing is all about. I prefer meeting people in small and personal cafès. Jazz Bars are also cool. In Munich there's a bar where swing is played and professional dancers teach the steps in the beginning of the night. One day I will take dance classes with my boyfriend to join them.
But I will never enjoy talking to people who won't recognize me the next day.
I love your illustrations, have you got an etsy shop or something where you sell them?
Hey lovely Anja! Eeep, yes, it can be quite a challenge to stay positive in difficult situations, but as with so many things in life: all it takes is a little practise. This is why I love to keep my "5 things I am thankful for" list every day, whether I blog or not. I prefer cafés too and there are a lot of wonderful places in Vienna, I just don´t know why people up to 35 need to get wasted every weekend. It´s like their lives are so empty and they are just plain boring, so they need to get drunk in order to fake some personality... It´s a good think for you that you are trying to change your way of thinking! Osho helped me a lot on the way, "courage" is one of his best books.
ReplyDeleteI want to learn how to dance too! I love watching people dance, but taking action yourself is always much more pleasurable.
I´m working on my etsy, I actually just developed this style over months of work and finally I am getting there. :D Thanks for your kind words, it really motivates to know that you like the style!!!
Oh gosh Natalie, this would look soooo adorable on a shirt! I'd definitely get one if you turned these into shirts <3
