Weekend Candy: Tiffany Blue Macarons & Why I Never Get To Draw

I´ve spent this weekend practising my illustration skills. Drawing is something that comes so easy and natural that I often forget to do it. Sounds silly, right? I often tend to put the "must dos & have tos" before the "want tos & love tos". This is why I end up making illustrations whenever I ticked off everything on my list. Which hardly ever happens. Hence I really don´t draw as often as I want to. It makes my heart ache when I think where I could be (skill-wise) if I kept up a regular routine.

But woulda-couldas never get you anywhere, right? So I´ll grab my sketchbook tomorrow and do do do as much as I can. I don´t want to belong to those who dream what they could do instead of doing what they dream of. Hussaaah!

And I´ll be moving in two weeks!!!! I still can´t really grasp it. But slooowly it starts to sink in. Every time I get the "Oh gosh, I have an apartment!"-flash, my brother and I are doing a happy dance of such awkward clumsiness, it would actually be worth a video.

This is actually the first time that I have drawn tears in that manner. I always tend to make very happy and outgoing characters, but there is a beauty in sadness and melancholia too, that I want to explore a bit further down the road. What do you think?

Here are some wonderful links for your gusto:

I suggest that you don´t enter Manga Fox if you want to do anything else today than sit in front of your computer and read.

If You Love Her, Let Her Grow is an amazing piece about supporting each other on living the dream. I´ve seen so many relationships struggle with the difficulties that come with self-sufficiency and Gareth William put everything well into perspective.

An amazing article about being weird. Whether you were a homeschooler or not, it doesn´t matter. I felt touched by every word. It´s not about being in the middle of the popular crowd, it´s about having personality.

Something to live by, don´t you think?

5 things I am grateful for today:

  • Cooking. Bulgur with mushrooms in whipped cream on carpa alla siciliana - red saltbush - salad. Maybe I should make recipe blog posts from time to time?
  • Bwahahaha! Party!
  • the picstitch app makes life a lot easier for those of us who like to make cute picture collages. Plus: It´s free. Love it!
  • The cool windy breeze that makes summer temperatures bearable.
  • Practising yoga with my brother and noticing that I am a lot more flexible than him. Here´s to using your body and not getting old!

Happy start into the new week!

  1. Aw, that dog is very cute! And sometimes it's just right to draw a sad picture instead.

It also often happens to me that I do the „have-to-do’s“ and never find the time to do the „want-to-do’s“ – like drawing …

It also makes me sad, I always tell myself „after everything important is done I will draw“, but there are too many things to be done. D:
Most sad is that I am soooo creative at times, when I totally have no time for it (at work for example). XD Makes me mad sometimes.

But I will try to break through the circle and follow my hearts desire! <3 Thanks for reminding me about this!

  5. I love your drawings!  Drawing used to be something that I did at least once a week if not more and I did that for nearly 5 years.  My skills progressed and I got better and better.  And then for some reason (maybe because of the 'must dos and have tos') I just stopped.  I tend to draw mostly still lifes or things from photographs, but I would love to try Manga!  Do you have any suggestions on books or websites for learning how to draw Manga?
